Kinja'd!!!

The poor thing hasn’t been washed in ages, the headlights are foggy, a roof bar end piece is missing, the the hatch glass has a loose hinge that’s behind the wiper motor, the tires are a bit cupped because the idiots at Kal Tire keep under inflating his tires, and something is loose in the steering. Oh and it could maybe use front shocks, those are original, and it’s got 200k ish kms on it. It’s held up well since the last bout of work was done in 2009 or so.

This is the one that’s already had the computer replaced, and the entire wiring harness under the hood, and the rear shocks and springs, and the transmission rebuilt.......2k after the warranty ended. This will probably be his last Ford. He knows the new ones are better, but he’s just not happy with them at all for not doing anything about literally everything but the engine breaking as soon as the warranty ended.

Kinja'd!!!

I need to do something about this, too.

Kinja'd!!!

It’s hilarious that this and my Legacy are only a year apart.

The mighty Taurus will live on, thanks to the cargo coils, HD KYBs, trans cooler, and shift kit. No thanks to Ford, who couldn’t figure out how to design a wagon to actually do wagon things.

I was going to make some joke about that the tranny was gonna die next, but I see that the Taurus beat me to the punchline.

Yeah.......his last Taurus did the same thing, twice.

I think I would just ride it out. Putting $200 in parts seems like a waste at this point.

Yeah, I’m not sure how much longer he wants this thing to last. I think just the steering will get attention, and tires at some point. That’ll probably be all

That’s what I would do, unless he just loves the car. If you spend $350 on tires, then you might as well keep going. Before you know it, you’re approaching more than it’s worth.

Oh he’s long since spent more than it’s worth on it. He had to drop almost 14k on it over a year or two, and by then it was worth probably 8-10k. Now I imagine it’s a $2500 car, maybe $3000 but I doubt it. He is pretty fond of it, in spite of all the trouble. the engine has also been completely problem free, so he might just do enough to keep it going until that’s finally done. It is a Vulcan, so it could be a while.
